Marengo Cave has been described as one of the most beautiful show caves in the eastern United States. Located a short drive from Blue River Valley Farm in the heart of the region’s cave country, it was discovered by two school children in 1883 and offers a variety of underground splendor rarely seen in a single cave.
Designated a US Landmark in 1984 by the Department of the Interior, it is noted for its large trunk passage with formations of the highest quality and has been described as “the most profusely decorated cavern” in the Midwest.
The first designated Scenic and Natural Riverway in Indiana and first explored by Squire Boone, Daniel Boone's brother, Blue River flows through one of the most scenic, interesting and diverse areas of Indiana.
Flowing adjacent to and the namesake of Blue River Valley Farm, a canoe trip along it’s pools and ripples provides an opportunity to experience the pastoral tranquility of rural farmland, extensive forests, numerous limestone caves, and a wealth of historical attributes.

What They Said...
We really enjoyed our peaceful stay at Blue River Farm. As senior citizens this brought back many childhood memories. We have lived in the city for 40 years and forgot the great fresh air smell. We watched the birds at the feeder while we had morning coffee on the huge back porch. It was a pleasure to have fresh eggs and vegetables from the garden. The serenity while sitting on the rivers edge was refreshing. Everything we wanted was supplied. The full moon on our last night there was brilliant. We have stayed in vacation rentals all over the United States and this has become one of our favorites.
